A New Goal
So I've been relatively consistent this month with my workouts, but my eating habits have not been up to par. Just this past weekend alone, I had copious amount of beer, pizza and quesadillas, and I was a bit disappointed with myself. Today is my day off, and I've had to reflect and refocus, and here's what I came up with. Today is November 16th..on December 4th, I will be flying out to Los Angeles to interview with Kareem Abdul Jabbar. I vow to work out every day between now and then in an effort to reclaim my svelte status. No cookies, no pizza, no quesadillas, no beer, no margaritas, and none of those foods/drinks that put on the lbs quickly. That is my promise to you (my 2 readers) and myself...

Neglect
I've been avoiding this blog like a bill collector, so I suppose I need to get back into some sort of rhythm with updating my workout process. Football season has started, which means my weekend eating habits aren't always what they should be. The combination of that and the occasional cold weather, have caused my workout habits to be inconsistent at best. Some days I work out only twice a week, which is a far cry from the 5 days a week pace I was keeping prior to my Miami trip. But last week, I got back into the swing of things by working out Monday thru Thursday and again yesterday. My weight continues to hover around the 195 range, which is fine for me right now.
My main man Sabin has suggested that I add weight gloves and "flippers" to my swim process, and I know that will be the next step I take in my workout process. I really wish I lived near a track, so I could add sprints to the mix..i'll work on that though

Mission Accomplished
For the past 10 days, I ate nothing but fruit, vegetables and fish. No sweets, no bread, no pasta, no nothing. The intent was to cleanse my system, since I really had not been eating well since my trip to Miami. It was a huge struggle to stay true to this diet, and about halfway thru I wanted some chicken and waffles. But I made it, and I lost 5 lbs in the process. I never stopped running and swimming, but there were a few days when I felt too weak to finish the workout. Now that I'm done, I'm still going to incorporate certain elements of that diet in my day to day life. But I'm also getting me some chicken and waffles this weekend.

Here We Go Again..
When you've been slacking the way I have on and off the past couple of weeks, you start to feel it in your clothes a little bit. There is a slight tightness in my slacks, which is a direct result of the kind of things I've been putting in my body and I'm pissed. But I'll turn that anger into something constructive. I ran for 40 minutes this morning, and it hurt, and I was sore but I did it, so that's an accomplishment. Tonight, its pushups and then tomorrow its back in the pool. I'll probably weigh myself tonight as motivation to keep pushing myself back to where I was..

Re-dedication
I finally added yoga to my running/swimming regimen, and I definitely surprised at the result. I was sore all over for quite a few days, and I felt two steps behind the entire time. Still, I will definitely continue to take part in the class, at least two to three times a week. The instructor told me that it will help both my swimming and my running. For the next 10 days, at the suggestion of a friend of mine, I will be doing a fruit, veggie and fish fast. No cookies, no alcohol, no sugar, no cereal, no bread, just fruit, veggies and fish, along with my working out. It'll clean my system out from what I hear, so that should be a funy and sexy time for me. In the meantime, I will continue to run, swim and yoga. I haven't weighed myself in a while, I'm focusing more on being consistent..if that makes sense.

The Return
So I did not work out at all while I was on vacation from August 14th to August 21st. I made sure to have fruit and a bagel for breakfast, a small lunch, and during dinner I would splurge a bit, but I never really got out of hand. I did drink, but again, I kept it under control, so that when I returned home, I wouldn't set myself back too much. As it turns out, I only gained 2 lbs while on vacation, which is pretty good if I say so myself.
On Tuesday morning, I returned to working out, and I swam a mile on that day, and Wednesday and Thursday, which I had not been able to do prior to vacation. I don't know where the extra energy came from, but I definitely felt strong both during and afterwards. I took the day off today, but tomorrow I'll be right back at it. I've also decided to add yoga to the mix starting next week.

Vacation!!!
I haven't been neglecting my workouts, I just haven't been writing about them, because I wanted to wait until the day before I left for vacation to document my progress. I have stepped up both the swimming and the running workouts over the past few weeks, and I have seen pleasant results. I'm able to swim 45 minutes straight with minimal stops and I am able to run for just about the same period of time without stopping at all, and I feel myself getting stronger. Vacation is now here, and I may squeeze in a workout or two, but nothing too strenous. When I resume my normal workouts next Thursday, I plan on adding basketball and weight lifting to the mix, so that I don't get too complacent. Also, I have met my weight goal of 189 lbs, so i really don't want to drop anymore weight..its about maintaining right now.
